Our Mission
At Great Lakes Roller Derby, our mission is to empower athletes to achieve their full potential. We are committed to providing expert advice and training that helps our skaters take their game to the next level.
Our junior team consists of ages 7-17 and they skate under The Great Lakes Shipwrecks. Our adults consists of ages 18+, We have Skaters of all ages, you are not too old we promise! The adults skate under The Great Lakes Sirens! Both teams skate in female and co-ed bouts.
Intrigued by roller derby, but don't want to play a contact sport? No worries, grab the best seat in the house on skates or blades and learn how to referee! We will teach you! Non-skating officials and referees are extremely important for our sport! They ensure that safety is top priority and that each event runs smoothly! Here at GLRD there is a spot for everyone!
Our coaches each have over 15 years of roller derby experience! (Pictured from left to right is coaches, Lauren Ososki, Dan Bonnett and Vanessa Bonnett.) Founders Vanessa Bonnett/Nessquick and Lauren Ososki/Tiki Torch Her both represent our great lakes state by playing for Team Michigan Roller Derby. Team Michigan is a super team of the top skaters in Michigan; they play against other state teams resulting in some of the highest level derby around! Nessquick also has elite derby experience and knowledge by training and competing with Team USA roller derby as a junior and an adult!
